Are Vampires Really Sinners?

There's been a war in my head about Vampires lately... (Probably because I've been readin and watchin Vampire Knight)

A friend of mine suggested I write a story about Vampires...

I have a good plot, but I've just been wondering...

Why are vampires considered bad?
Why are they considered sinners? (Looked a little deeper into the history of Vampires one night when I was bored and couldn't sleep)

Does anyone have a good answer for this? .___.

Shadows Cannot Triumph

Halo, fellow Inklings! How are you this fine day? This is a scene from my other novel--SLC! I hope you guys enjoy it--a wee bit of humour here! x3

May your pen be as your swift blade and the paper as our shield and defense!

Verity came to the fence, surrounding their house, and sighed, opening the gate, she stepped into the driveway and walked up it towards the door.

“Hey, V!” said a young boy’s voice over on the other side of the fence.

The boy leaned on the fence casually, smiling in a very friendly way. He short, shaggy black hair hanging over his brown eyes.

“Hey, Elijah!” Verity grinned, excitedly, “Howzit? What are you doing at Jonathan’s?”

Elijah grinned as if he had a secret he was holding back.

Verity raised an eyebrow, “Oh boy...what is it now, dude?”

“You’re in trouble!” he said, prolonging the last word, mockingly.

“Ermm...what’s goin’ on?”

He shrugged, “Seeya at church....if you are still alive...” Winking at her Elijah left her standing there, cluelessly.

Well, we can't let Mari be the only one posting!

Here is a little unedited snippet from a short story I started over the weekend, inspired by a family vacation at a fancy hotel:

After breakfast Varina went for a hike and Daniel went for another soak. They passed a pleasant and peaceful three days and Varina even got Daniel to come on a walk in the woods with her, though it wasn't a hike and the trail was all boardwalk.
"In the snow, this place would look like Narnia," Daniel commented. "Look at this lamp post! It's growing hair!" Sure enough, the post had a mossy 'do drooping down damply.
That night Daniel got the manager of the hotel to open one of the grand pianos and Daniel gave an impromptu concert in the lobby.
Altogether it was a very good day. Daniel and Varina slept well. At least until the shrieks woke them.

I'm trying to decide whether I want that last sentence to say 'shrieks' or 'screams.' Which sounds better to you?

Live long and prosper!

Homesick

My apologies for allowing this dear blog to die down once more, fellow Inklings! I have been writing several things now!

--Current WIPs:
-The Shadows, the Light, and the Chosen(SLC) - novel
-The Adventures of Nicholas Shade: Apprentice of Time - short story
-Steam Alice - stand-alone short story
-100 Things Worth Living For - non-fic
-Annie's Diary: When Light and Dark Collide - novella

Here is a piece from Annie's diary:

Annie half-dozed in the back of the RV she had hooked a ride with. The RV was filled with a group of 5. A traveling singing group. Mindie--who had become a very dear friend to Annie these almost two weeks--was watching Annie, concerned. It almost frightened me, however. Something about them made me want to run for the hills. They follow Him! That’s gotta be it! Annie may have not been comfortable with them, but she enjoyed their presence...especially after the lonely three nights. They had no idea why Annie was where she was--sleeping by garbage cans of a Spinx station, all alone. Somehow they took Annie into their RV...most of it was a blur and she wasn’t a tad sure what happened, but now she was going to Indiana with a singing group.

“Look, guys! We’re over the border!” called the driver, Matt.

"You disturb me."

Jack Lewis has been naughty and has gotten behind in her writing. That means she has had little to post, as you might have noticed. But she has other things to post, besides writing. Such as this song, which reminds her of one of her books.

Firm in Truth, Loyalty, and Sacrifice -- black, gold and red!

This is a tidbit from TWA's Chapter Four! Let me know how ya guys like it! xD I put some of my own experiences from my confirmation into the Anglican church.... forming it into a warrior's commitment and not just a confirmation.... Lemme know whatcha think xD

Shadows transformed to violet,
Mari J. Fahel

Morwynne hustled to finish strapping straps, clumsily and shoved Havana’s helm in her stomach as Havana grasped it, “Mor, cool it... it’s not like I headed a tournament...”

Morwynne cocked a sardonic eyebrow, “No, but you are going on an unknown mission, even to Willai and who knows what battles you’ll have to face!”

“Breathe Mor....In and out.... and relax, norna’lei!”

Morwynne took a deep breath and stepped out with Havana. She stood by the ministers’ cabin as Havana walked purposefully towards the middle of the courtyard. Willai and Aarik awaited her, with Nolhan, the blacksmith standing by their sides. Havana stopped in front of Willai, standing to attention.

“The 12-Pillar Guardians before us stood before our King, Jeshua and were commissioned to plant the citadels of the guardians around the nation, and moreover all nations. They withstood tribulation and persecution, and victored in His name,” Willai said, with such authority, that it could empower even the most fearful--even Morwynne, “Do you, Havana Blade, commit to the mission at hand, whatever the Author puts on our hearts in the sanctuary? Do you vow to mission out and do it to the best of your ability, not for your glory, but for the glory of the Author?”

“I, Havana Blade, do solemnly make those commitments,” responded Havana, face set.

Willai: **a switch stick in hand, tapping it ominously** “Turn around…” Mor: **panicked voice** “J-just put that down…” Willai: **patronizing dark smile** “What? So the stubborn little child isn’t prepared to reap the consequences of her actions? Tsk tsk…”

Couldn't stick to just one so I added the main characters I could think of....Maybe I could do another one xD
~Mari J. Fahel

(ABOVE) This song reminds me of my character, Melody Gael(the real one, not Melody Blanke xP) from TWA, because it is upbeat and she was a joyous person before she was gone. She liked to play a highlander's whistle and dance, so this makes me think of her....

(ABOVE) This song reminds me of Morwynne Gael from TWA...she's a wee bit of an adventurer and likes a bit of excitement to start her day--most of the time! xD

(ABOVE) This song reminds me of Cpt. Willai MacNaell from TWA, because it is strong and the music itself seems good for a warrior--like him xP

"My wife says I'm second best. She says they'res eighty fellas tied for first."

*Trips in. Almost crashes into the fire. Brushes ash from hair and eats a cookie.*

Since Christmas is over I redid the background. Please let me know if it is hard to read as I can fix it.

Now, I have a game - we shall just call it a game - for all of you. Something to get us all posting again.

Post a song which reminds you of one of your characters and say why.

I'll do mine later because I'm sleepy.

The Oldest Trick in the Book.......

From and Inspired piece in my story The City Burns! Hope you like it! :-D

The Swashbuckler Disciple,
Mari J. Fahel

Rowan lay in bed when suddenly a loud beeping noise sent her bolting upright. She hit the alarm and threw herself off the bed in grogginess. Been almost half a year since she last dreamt of the confrontation with Shay. She should have spoken out...What happened would've been better on the family, then--Shay didn't get who he was after. He just ran away that very night. Unless Shay went for another girl...was possible, right? At least it wasn't Michiko--or she hoped it wasn't....well, nothing happened so what did it matter? It could've been Rowan herself. She had been put to sleep. Who knows? It could have been her. But, who cares right? None of Rowan's family knew of what happened that night--they probably would freak...Here I am, letting my thoughts rant...and I have to get ready for school! Rowan shut her door and began to change from her flower-print gown to her school uniform. Michiko squirmed in her comforter, making Rowan chuckle, "Wake up, Michiko! We have school!"

"I don't want to go to school just--" Michiko began to whine.

"Five more minutes? That's the oldest trick in the book! Don't make me laugh, girlie!" Rowan grinned at the irony and nudged Michiko, "Wakey wakey! Don't make me tickle you!"

Michiko bolted out of bed, "Alright, I'm up! Just don't tickle me!"

"Much better...I'll go now, get ready!" Rowan left a frantic Michiko, chuckling loudly as she shut the door behind her.

Happy New Year!

I don't have a Christmas story for you (because it is a little late for that...) but I do have a New Years story! It stars my NaNoWriMo characters Daniel and Varina... And also their friend and co-worker Andrew (who is a struggling, and gloomy author).

The clock read 11:52. Just eight more minutes… And Daniel had fallen asleep.
“Daniel!” Varina poked her comrade. His head popped up from where it had fallen on his shoulder; his tired eyes opened in protest.
“Hmmm? Did I miss it?” he asked sleepily.
“No, we still have seven minutes. But you fell asleep,” replied Varina. “You have to stay awake! Come on, have another cookie.”
Daniel took the chocolate chip cookie – Varina’s specialty – from her and sleepily brought it to his lips, smearing chocolate all over his chin in the effort.
“Here, have a napkin.” Andrew, who was in the kitchen, threw a paper airplane napkin at Daniel. It crashed before it made it to the living room. “Mayday! Mayday! We have a plane down! Survivors unknown!” Andrew yelled, jerking Daniel out of another doze.
“Haven’t you ever stayed up for New Years?” Varina asked the sleepy Brit as he flopped on the floor to pick up the napkin.
“Of course,” Daniel defended himself. “Well… sort of. Only once.”
“Only once? Really?” Andrew asked, sitting down next to Varina on the couch. Daniel nodded and joined them.
“My family didn’t ‘do’ holidays,” said Daniel, “at least not together. My father was always away with work and my mother had her own parties to go to. The nanny put my siblings and I to bed and we were expected to fall asleep. One year my brother and I stayed up until midnight on New Years. We got in so much trouble I’ve never done it again.”
“That’s awful!” said Varina while Andrew looked sympathetically at Daniel.
“It’s the way my family is,” Daniel shrugged.
“Oh! Look!” Varina said, suddenly pointing at the television. “The ball is about to drop!”
“If we had taken my advice, we would be out on the street watching it in person,” Andrew grumbled.
“We were not going to camp out to get a good place on the streets,” Varina replied. “Besides, we had fun here, didn’t we? We played Eat Poop You Cat and Scattegories-“
“And Daniel fell asleep every ten minutes…” Andrew added.
“Fifteen seconds until the New Year!” squealed Varina. “Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, ONE! HAPPY NEW YEAR!” she turned and hugged Andrew.
“Happy New Year!” he said back, a smile sneaking over his face.
“Daniel, Happy New Year!” said Varina.
Both Varina and Andrew turned their eyes on their friend. He had fallen asleep, again, and had missed the New Year.
Varina and Andrew exchanged a glance.
“Should we wake him up?” Varina asked.
“Nah, he can crash here for the night,” Andrew replied, smiling down at Daniel.
   “Well, I’d better go then.”
“Yes. Goodnight Varina! Happy New Year!”
   “Happy New Year!"

Saruman: "He eats too many mushrooms..." My Epicly Kookie Aunt: **gapes widely** "There's no such THING as too many mushrooms!"

Hello, fellow Inklin's and strangers of the unknown! I have finally decided to update this 'ere. blog! It looked sad and lonely! :-( Poor wee lonesome blog! **pats it consolingly** There, there! I have come to update you! x3 Well, I am finally working on Chapter 2 of TWA! xD Below is a wee taste of it! <3 It has a description of an animal is there! To give you an idea of what a "bargnot" is I'll show you my fantasy world encyclopedia, in which I created the bargnot!

Bargnot - A seashore creature with a shell on its back and head. Fur dangles from its chin. It is hunted down for food and its shell. The meat is like a cow's but it is sweet and salty even without seasoning.

May you pen be swift, your mind be sharp, and your focus be steadfast, as you make your defense!

The Swashbuckler Disciple,
Mari J. Fahel

In the silence of the cabin Melody began muttering incantations, to calm the flow of memories, and set them to rights. They slowed down, just as she intended them to. She quickly ceased when Erik came back in, followed by a girl with auburn red hair. She was carrying a tray of food, which she placed on the bedside table. She placed a much softer hand on Melody’s forehead, asking in an undertone, “How are you feeling? My name is Jeniah.”

Melody shrugged. Giving Jeniah more reason to be concerned, apparently, because she leaned over, and looked intently into her eyes, then smiled reassuringly. After an awkwardly long pause Jeniah’s slight smile was replaced with a good-natured beam of joy, “Eat up. And I’ll get Erik to check on you, every now and then, okay?”

Melody smiled, hesitantly and nodded to Jeniah in acknowledgement. Jeniah rose to her full height and strode towards Erik, who then, followed her out the door. When they were out of her view, Melody turned to her tray of food, her stomach grumbling it’s desire to be filled. The tray was laden with cold bread, cheese, and some steaming hot soup. From the looks of the soup, she thought it might have bargnot meat, turnips, potatoes, and some sweet carrots. She pondered the delectable smell for a moment as she the naturally sweet and salty meat of the bargnot made her stomach growl even more persistently. She lifted the tray off the small table, and placed it in her lap. She sunk her teeth in the bread, and began to scarf it down like a starved madwoman. When she finished the bread, she gulped down the soup, in a rush. The cheese, she left, poking it with her fork.

As she continued to poke the cheese, a girl with honey-brown curls, reaching down to her waist walked in. Her face was fair and freckled, and as she stepped in she beamed across at Melody, her words rang out in good cheer, “Hey, Mellie!”

“Hey, Mor!” Melody replied, smiling sweetly.

MERRY a day late CHRISTMAS!

*Jack stumbles in while balancing a plate of cookies which she somehow manages not to spill into the fire.* TADA! *She sets them on the table* That is talent for me!
I'm here for a few reasons. One is to share the cookies, which I didn't make - good news for all of you - the other is to wish you all a Merry Little Christmas. And the third is to share my short, Christmas story! And that is all!

The airship drifted lazily through the thick clouds. Snow drifted past the window, large flakes which made the world appear warmer then it actually was. Inside, though, the disillusion was easy to believe. Heat drifted through every inch of the Zeppelin, filling the Piloting Deck with warmth, which was made hot by the added heat of the packed bodies inside.
Balancing on chairs, Peter and Darcy were trying to hang up garland while Tony and Steed held to the chairs in the hopes that they wouldn't tip. At the wheel, Kirk leaned, pretending to steer though really he was just trying to keep awake. Peter saw him, from time to time, yawning so wide it looked as if his jaws were about to unhinge.
“Hey!” Darcy suddenly snapped when Peter again got distracted by Kirk's yawn. His eyes almost disappeared. “Watch it! You're going to get both our necks broken!”
Peter turned back to look at Darcy. He held one end of the garland, Darcy holding to the other and trying to hang it over the window at the same time. Nails were sticking in the tail end of his shirt and he clenched a hammer as if he planned to kill someone with it. (Peter wouldn't have put the hammer killing past him.)
“I'm holding the branches, just like you said,” Peter muttered. His arms were getting tired from holding to the long, prickly boroughs and he had pine needles stuck in his hair.
“Are you complaining, Pete?” Tony asked. He looked up, loosening his grip just a little on Darcy's chair. Peter was waiting for Tony to purposely tip Darcy over. How he had ended up holding his chair and Steed holding Peter's was beyond him.
“No,” Peter murmured. He didn't meet his friend's eye, just concentrated on keeping a firm hold on the garland.
“Good,” Steed muttered from the back of the chair, “because it is almost Christmas and it was your idea to string branches all over my airship.”
“It was Darcy's idea just as much as mine,” Peter pointed out.
Darcy said nothing, just stretched, balancing on tip toe as he tried to get the last of his end of the garland up into corner above the window. He was an inch too short to reach but refused to give up. Peter watched silently as he fought to keep upright, his tongue sticking out of one side of his mouth as he concentrated.
“Would you like me to do that for you?” Steed asked lazily.
“No,” Darcy grunted.
Tony shifted his feet and Steed glared at him, so Tony glared back. Peter dropped his arms just a little, which were getting sore from holding the branches up, and Kirk choice that moment to snap awake. Only he did more then that. He came out of his light doze fighting and spun the wheel so hard all those not attached to something dived head first into something else.
In the Piloting Deck, the chairs slid across the floor, out of Steed and Tony's grasps who were thrown to the ground. Peter fought to keep his balance but it was a lost cause when Darcy lost his and crashed into him. Both flew off the chairs and hit the floor, garland crashing down on top of them. The hammer flew out of Darcy's hand, coming dangerously close to smashing the window.
When Kirk managed to right the airship, Darcy and Peter crawled out from under each other and the mass of pine branches which were pricking through their shirts. Peter pushed himself to his feet and tried to brush some of the pine needles from his hair. Darcy was covered in green. The needles stuck upright in his hair and he had many poking in his clothing. He looked like a hedgehog.
“What are you trying to do, kill us?” Steed snapped as he too got to his feet. He glared hard at his yawning Pilot.
“Not intentionally,” Kirk murmured around another wide yawn. “I kind of fell asleep.”
“Really?” Darcy plucked pine needles from his shirt. “I never would have guessed.”
Peter silently examined the window. In their fall, he and Darcy had managed to pull down most of the garland. Bits of green were still up, where the nails held them in place, but most of the branches lay on the floor in a sorry state. Darcy eyed the slaughtered mess and rolled his eyes.
“Now we need more garland,” he muttered, scowling sideways at Kirk.
Kirk bit back another yawn. “We can get a tree when we land this time,” he pointed out.
Talking of a tree made Peter grin. He couldn't help but think of the tree he, Tony, Hannah, and O'Brien had put up last Christmas. Hopefully this time the tree gathering would cause less injuries.
His eyes drifted down to the battlefield of garland, then up to Darcy. On second thought, he figured he should prepare for an even bigger disaster.
***
Despite Peter's doubts and fears, chopping the tree down didn't land anyone in the medical room. They even got it safely on board, hung up the garland, strung popcorn, and lit the candles without anymore crashes.
As Peter and Tony draped the last of the popcorn strands about the tree's branches, Peter felt the same stab of doubt hit him. Should he be celebrating Christmas on board the Air Pirate Zeppelin? Surely this broke every rule in the book and sealed his fate as a traitor. Yet, he had celebrated Jesus' birth every Christmas for as long as he could remember. To skip a year of remembering the day his Savior had come to earth, the day He gave up His throne in Heaven to live as a man, didn't seem right.
That was how Peter Jones, former Aeropilot from the Scottish Royal Air Force, came to be lighting candles in the Piloting Deck on Christmas Eve. Tony was with him, as well as Darcy, Steed, Kirk, Alfie, and many of the other men. The cook had outdone himself and somehow managed to bake cookies which weren't as hard as rocks and black. The smell of hot chocolate filled the room as Darcy and Peter stuck the last of the candles into the tree.
“Don't catch it on fire, Jones,” Darcy warned.
Peering through the branches, Peter saw he was smirking. Darcy Steed was actually being nice to him. Peter smirked back, wondering how long it would last.
“I'll wait till after Christmas to blow us up,” he promised.
“Wouldn't put it past you,” Darcy replied.
Peter wished he could understand Darcy. Most of the time he acted as if he'd like nothing more then to take his head off with the sword he wore at his belt. Yet, when Peter was least expecting it, Darcy would show him kindness. Sometimes Peter wished they could be friends, other times he wished he could find one of Kirk's hiding places.
“Aren't you going to come and have some of the cookies?” Darcy asked. He moved from out behind the tree and picked wax off the shirt of his sleeve.
Sticking the last of his candles into its hold, Peter rubbed sap off of his hands while he nodded his head. “I'm right behind you,” he reassured.
Darcy strutted off and Peter trailed behind, glancing at the men around him. He decided it wouldn't hurt things if he, for one night at least, allowed himself to think of the pirates as friends.

Christmas Party - Inklings Style!

Hey you writing and reading buds!
To the Old Inklings, you should remember how these parties work! And to those who are new to the whole virtual partying Inklings style, it's time you find out! It starts with inviting mad aspiring authors and them inviting their characters/alter-egos (you won't find my alter-egos in this party. Inklings, remember Christy and Patience? They have returned to their proper place)! Bring a sword, a cloak, your imaginative sharpened mind, a special character you wish to introduce, and just have fun! The only things that I will ask you NOT to bring are a tazer and handcuffs! We will be chatting on a chatango box -- Inklings remember the chocolate box? I most certainly shall make one for this! -- The party will be at 6-8pm EST (5-7pm CST) on December 28th! I hope you can join and the only rules I will have on this chat will be: 1. No curse words 2. Be considerate of one another 3. HAVE FUN!
Note: Remember to bring some Christmas songs, and maybe some links to your Christmas writings! :-D

Songs from the Heart

A few of you know of my fascination of music and songs. If you know that, you should also know that I strive to write songs of my own. This is my latest shot at a song, I titled it The Cries of a Million Hearts! I hope you enjoy it!

V1:
I lie here fully conscious
And yet the slumber drones on
In the suffocating depths, I hear
The cries of a million hearts

V2:
I lie here pierced by the darkness
While the bloodstained marks take form
Death, oh sweet death take hold of my soul
And join the cries of a million hearts

Chorus:
My child, don't you see?
I have you here right next to Me
Your heart is in the palm of My hands
And your tears like a sea
Are in My thoughts
Oh, what you could be
If you just allow me....
To wipe those tears from your eyes!
(My love has no disguise!)

V3:
I cry here fully aware
Of my faults that I am to bear
I throw my body in despair
To take on the cries of a million hearts

Bridge:
I am pulled out from the darkness
Into the light
My eyes are set on Christ in all His might
He takes me in and I lose sight
Of the agony in this small heart
To bring to Christ
Those million weeping hearts

Your fully blood bound sister-in-Christ,

"I ask for a savior and what do I get? Captain Tall-and-Gangly!"

I wrote another piece in the story and it'll be posted in Wattpad at 8pm EST! Look for it here!

In the fort Jeniah saw Captain MacNell carrying a wrapped form in his arms, running towards the cabin. Jeniah kicked the stool from under Jat who sat, lazing back. He fell to the ground and glared up at Jeniah who nodded towards Willai’s hurrying figure. Jat hastened to stand up and helped lay the wrapped form on the bed. Willai breathed heavily as he stared into Jeniah’s eyes in concern.

“Where’s Morwynne?” Jeniah heard the hint of dread in her own voice when she spoke.

Willai seemed to hear the edge in her voice too so he looked down at Jeniah, “She’s--”

A loud clatter from behind the two of them alerted them of another, as Willai turned to face Morwynne picking up the mop and bucket that she tripped over, “She’s here.”

Morwynne lay the mop gently on the wall as it slid off and clattered to the floor again. She left it there and went to help Jeniah with the new patient. Jeniah unwrapped the cloak to reveal the sliced body which oozed blood and shadows. Morwynne stooped to touch it when the sound of a clearing throat, alerted her of Willai’s rising temper.

"If you would, Morwynne Aari Gael, follow me to my quarters,” Willai’s cool tone aired a sign of caution for Morwynne who bit her lower lip and looked, pleadingly at Jat and Jeniah as Willai stepped out the door. Jeniah shook her head, solemnly as Jat grinned widely and shrugged. Morwynne’s head lowered in shame as she turned and followed the Captain, as if marching to the death.

I hope you enjoyed it! Tell me who your favorite character from this snippet is or if none, tell me your favorite quote in it!

Why, hello there! Mischief, Loyalty, a wee bit of Ari has returned!

Hey, guys! I've been writing a story called The Witches' Assassin! It has characters based on people/beliefs that I've had in my life! Be prepared for a ride with adventure, fantasy, truth, romance, drama, and humor! Expecting the unexpected isn't what it's about, but the world isn't all as it seems!

Melody twisted in the shadows, suffocating. Cold and afraid she cried, “Traitor! Let me go! Let me free! Let me be!”

Tears streamed down her face and she tried to reach out of the shadows, “Help me! Please! Mercy!”

Suddenly a shout of victory echoed as if in a far off land and light pierced the darkness like a blade forged in the Heavenly Kingdom. A sweet song of a marching army, marching on to the victorious beats of love rang all around her and became nearer and closer as the light grew brighter. Two hands pulled her out of the shadows as she fell into the embrace of a warm cloak. Honey-brown curls cascaded into Melody’s face as deep sea-green eyes delved into hers.

“In the name of Jeshua, you will depart from these parts, Sorion!” a firm voice of one with authority spoke in the blurred forest. A scream of agony as Sorion sounded his retreat.

Melody’s body, exerted and in agony slumped onto the girl’s shoulder, as her weight started sliding to the ground. Blackness engulfed her vision once more and she saw no more.

I hope you guys enjoyed it! Give me critique! TIPS! TIPS! TIIIIIIPS! :-D

Christmas!

So, it has been decided, fellow Inklings!

Over the next week or so, write a short Christmas story to share with everyone else on here. We shall have an Inklings Christmas! (Sorry, that is corney, but I'm worn out.)

Even if your story isn't ready before Christmas you can share it afterward.

I'm eager to read all your stories!

Christmas Stories!

In honour of Christmas I have given us a more Christmasy look. I tried to get a hold of Mari to see if she would mind, but was unable to. So, if you do, I am very sorry. *Looks Sheepish* We can change it back later if you would like.

But this is more then a post about the new template. This is also to ask, how many would like to take part in a short story Christmas contest? (I don't know what the winner would win, or if we should even have a winner...)
Anyhow, how does this idea appeal to everyone?

Everyone write an one page Christmas story that we can all share on here by the 21st. How does that sound?
