Shadows Cannot Triumph
Halo, fellow Inklings! How are you this fine day? This is a scene from my other novel--SLC! I hope you guys enjoy it--a wee bit of humour here! x3
May your pen be as your swift blade and the paper as our shield and defense!
M.J Kimzy-Fahel
Location: Bailey Residence, Taylors, SC, USA
Time 6:40pm
Verity came to the fence, surrounding their house, and sighed, opening the gate, she stepped into the driveway and walked up it towards the door.
“Hey, V!” said a young boy’s voice over on the other side of the fence.
The boy leaned on the fence casually, smiling in a very friendly way. He short, shaggy black hair hanging over his brown eyes.
“Hey, Elijah!” Verity grinned, excitedly, “Howzit? What are you doing at Jonathan’s?”
Elijah grinned as if he had a secret he was holding back.
Verity raised an eyebrow, “Oh boy...what is it now, dude?”
“You’re in trouble!” he said, prolonging the last word, mockingly.
“Ermm...what’s goin’ on?”
He shrugged, “Seeya at church....if you are still alive...” Winking at her Elijah left her standing there, cluelessly.

Well, we can't let Mari be the only one posting!
Here is a little unedited snippet from a short story I started over the weekend, inspired by a family vacation at a fancy hotel:
After breakfast Varina went for a hike and Daniel went for another soak. They passed a pleasant and peaceful three days and Varina even got Daniel to come on a walk in the woods with her, though it wasn't a hike and the trail was all boardwalk.
"In the snow, this place would look like Narnia," Daniel commented. "Look at this lamp post! It's growing hair!" Sure enough, the post had a mossy 'do drooping down damply.
That night Daniel got the manager of the hotel to open one of the grand pianos and Daniel gave an impromptu concert in the lobby.
Altogether it was a very good day. Daniel and Varina slept well. At least until the shrieks woke them.
I'm trying to decide whether I want that last sentence to say 'shrieks' or 'screams.' Which sounds better to you?
Live long and prosper!

Homesick
My apologies for allowing this dear blog to die down once more, fellow Inklings! I have been writing several things now!
--Current WIPs:
-The Shadows, the Light, and the Chosen(SLC) - novel
-The Adventures of Nicholas Shade: Apprentice of Time - short story
-Steam Alice - stand-alone short story
-100 Things Worth Living For - non-fic
-Annie's Diary: When Light and Dark Collide - novella
Here is a piece from Annie's diary:
Annie half-dozed in the back of the RV she had hooked a ride with. The RV was filled with a group of 5. A traveling singing group. Mindie--who had become a very dear friend to Annie these almost two weeks--was watching Annie, concerned. It almost frightened me, however. Something about them made me want to run for the hills. They follow Him! That’s gotta be it! Annie may have not been comfortable with them, but she enjoyed their presence...especially after the lonely three nights. They had no idea why Annie was where she was--sleeping by garbage cans of a Spinx station, all alone. Somehow they took Annie into their RV...most of it was a blur and she wasn’t a tad sure what happened, but now she was going to Indiana with a singing group.
“Look, guys! We’re over the border!” called the driver, Matt.
